DEBBY FRIDAY is a musician, writer, filmmaker and philosopher. She is currently living in Toronto, Canada.
A self-described experimentalist, Friday’s art practice spans the spectrum of the literary, audio and visual.
Her work frequently explores themes of hybridity, femininity, the erotic and the esoteric.
She holds an Honours BSocSci in Women’s Studies and Political Science
from the University of Ottawa (2016)
and a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Simon Fraser University (2021).
In 2023, she won the Polaris Music Prize for her debut LP, GOOD LUCK.
In 2026, she won the JUNO Award for Best Dance Record of The Year, for her track “Bet On Me” from her sophomore album, The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life.
Her work has been screened and exhibited at Western Front, Das Weisse Haus, Ottawa Art Gallery, MUTEK Montreal and elsewhere.
She also runs the blog and podcast, Diaries with Debby Friday.
